The Civil War soldier was issued a belt for use with his accouterments(SP). In the infantry, it held the bayonet scabbard and cap pouch. In the cavalry, it held a holster, cap pouch, pistol and carbine cartridge box. NCOs in the infantry and artillery were supposed to be issued specific belts. Officer's, needing to purchase their own gear, sometimes purchased the simple saber belt from the government.

Our example is made from an orignal belt. This is the later war style of belt used. It was approved for use in the second quarter of 1863. Our reproduction works with any of our oval belt buckles, available below.

NCOs were authorized a different waist belt. Rather than using the oval belt buckle, it came with a two piece rectangular buckle. Our reproduction will adjust XX" around the size your order.

Our saber belt is copied from an original. It features the shoulder sling to give support which was prevelant amongst enlisted belts. This was one piece of gear that is appropriate for officers, espcially junior officers.

This belt was issued to Georgia troops during the Civil War. It uses a different style belt buckle.

These buckles are for use with our enlisted waist belts. In keeping with the mid-war style belt, these are the "arrowback" style buckles that are correct for the belts with brass keepers. They may be ordered with the belt or can be purchased separately.
